Welcome to Poseidon World

The maritime industry is critical to global trade - with over 80% of goods being carried by sea at some stage. It is not only the safest, but also the most environmentally-friendly way of moving cargo around, as well the most economical.
Despite this, most people outside the industry are totally unaware of what goes on. Poseidon World carries critical information for readers both within and outside the maritime industry. Regular features deal with topical issues such as the predicted shortage of skilled seafarers, piracy, what is happening in the industry and its markets and environmental matters relating both to the performance of ships and what happens in the rare case of a disaster - plus many other areas of interest.

In the forthcoming issue we look at the Poseidon Challenge, the industry-led project that sets new goals of excellence and brings all parts of the industy together to act collectively to achieve them. Put simply, the goals are zero fatalities, zero pollution and zero detentions. Poseidon World examines the achievements of the past three years and a look into the future where all sectors of the maritime industry collaborate to achieve the “zero” goals by self-regulation.
